Travel the World; you still can’t match the wines of France, especially the Languedoc. Scroll down & find varieties of wines ranging from full bodied, forest fruits, velvety oak, delicately aromatic, spiced & smokey earth flavours. Take a wine tour & visit the wine regions of Corbiéres, Mont D’Aleric, Limoux, Minervois & Coteaux du Languedoc. Vines have grown here since 550 b.c. when the Greeks brought them to the region.
The grapes have to fight for life in this dry Mediterranean region; the roots of some 50 year old plants plunging 15 feet below the ground. Tastes, styles & influences change, big yeald varieties like Aramon & Carignan have been replaced with Syrah, Merlot & Cabinet Sauvignan. Blends are often based on restricted growth Carignan, the ancient cinsault & the smokey Mauvedre, but the favourite grape varieties remain as Syrah & Grenache, aged in oak for 12 months. Apellation controlée or vin de pays d’oc, the choice is here, scroll down to see.
